there is just something about...

vintage kitchen items. i don't know what it is, but they just appeal to me on some 50's / 60's housewives level. maybe it is the idea that because it looks like grandma's dish, it might taste like she made it. could it be that they just look homey and warm? maybe...

here are a few that im keeping my eyes on.

i just think of mixing some cookie batter, making a hot chocolate for a cold day and some yummy food for dinner. i love the mugs best. (source)

hope everyone is keeping warm these days!

264lbs of inspiration

so i may be the biggest sap ever. one of my favourite shows is The Biggest Loser. almost every episode i've ever watched i end up shedding a tear or two. i remember that the same week i wrote my 3 goals down i blogged about yesterday i was so inspired by this show.

do you remember Michael from last season? well back in the beginning of the season he was on the treadmill and ran a mile without stopping. bob looks at him and yells "gimme another!" he does it, then another, then another... he ends up running 4 or 5 miles altogether and he still weighed over 300lbs. i got up, turned off the t.v mid show and took my butt to the gym. i remember thinking "if he can do it, whats stopping me?"

that night i had the best run ever. it was hard, but i kept remembering what a contestant said that season... it was along the lines of how running is a mental battle they no longer want to lose. how they didn't want to listen to their lungs saying they didn't have enough breath, how their legs are crying in pain and how their mind is telling them they can't do it. so there i was huffing and puffing telling myself "you have enough air! your legs are strong! you CAN do this!" and i was so proud of myself! now, i didn't run 4-5 miles but i still accomplished something i never had done before.

Michael Ventrella ended up winning and lost more than 50% of his total body weight. he started at 526lbs and lost 264lbs!

if that isn't inspiring, then i don't know what is.

well i may not have 264lbs to lose, but i have a lot to gain from sticking to my goal of becoming a runner. thank you and congrats Michael! i am one inspired girl!

staying on track

remember this post? well i have been thinking about it a lot. i am happy to report that 2/3 have been achieved. now, i have to admit that i haven't been as proactive as i could be so i went searching for some inspiration.

both of these are from mary kate mcdevitt. i could see myself jotting down my goals and reminders on these beauties.

and maybe i should litter my room with these for motivation

well maybe not the last one, but you get the idea. did you guess what goal i still need to achieve? well i hope you feel inspired by my inspiration. wish me luck!

designer love

i really like marc jacobs. if i hit the jackpot and had millions of dollars i would go shopping there. i like that his runway looks are actually wearable yet unique in the marc kind of way.
these are all from the marc by marc jacobs runways looks of 2010.

what i love most about these looks is the simplicity. each look has one statement piece, nothing is competing with another item. i think i really really want those electric blue jeans... and the pink dress... come on lottery!

here are some of his bags!(i know im drooling!)

well, i like how well dressed and accessorized ill be when im loaded!(carly, you better not be buying any of these or i will be so jealous!!)

daily music mix

here is a playlist of what i'm normally listening to while writing blog entries and relaxing at home. its pretty balanced compared to some of the combos of artists and styles i listen to daily. my old flatmate daven has commented several times on my eclectic mix in my music moods. maybe next week i'll make one of our normal morning "getting pumped for the day" mix in honour of daven. miss you babe!

hope you enjoy it!

all things hair

i have stumbled upon a shop that is filled with beautiful hair accessories. they are bright, fun and whimsical. with a name as cute as whippy cake it is not surprising! here are some of my favourites!

how dreamy! i love them. i recently cut a lot of my hair off and this makes me miss it. how i wish i could do that long braid again.

so i have a confession.... last night i must have spent at least and hour watching hair styling how-to videos on youtube. it all started with my mini crush on this young ladies hair.

yes please! gorgeous!

so i found some great videos showing me how to get this style and then it dawned on me... i no longer have long hair to get this look. i didn't let that get me down though. i was enjoying the tutorials and learned how to fishtail braid, curl my hair like Taylor and found a new nail polish brand. time well spent? i think so. now to be patient while my hair grows....xox

fashion crush

when i first saw this coat i fell in love. having a meager budget i quickly put it out of my mind and made peace with the idea of keeping my simple go-to black coat for another winter. then the heavens opened and presented me with an inspired option with a very manageable cost. i give to you my affordable second chance!

now it may not be as luxurious as Blair Waldorf's but i'm no Upper East Sider. where to find this steal? Old Navy! i know! well this makes me very happy. now to find all those accessories...
